Design Product Art

Reacting to process partner stress, I took part in the design and implementation of the “Design Product Art Process.” The DPA process was first envisioned in early 2015, with development becoming linked to the wider process redesign at Whirlpool which would become the “Whirlpool Product Design Process” - also known as WPD. Initial meetings and workshops started from the ground up, mapping current state process and pulling in all stakeholders to envision the future state process. At Whirlpool this activity is facilitated through Kaizen events to model the process and find the way through to the best outcome for all participants.

The Design Product Art Process was broken down into “modules” - each with specific inputs, outputs, and deliverables. Tied closely with the overall DPA is the DPA tracking tool which was developed by our very talented team.

By the time Covid took my job at Whirlpool this process was fully implemented, providing utility and flexibility to all process partners.

Having worked with Zac, over the last 13 years, I have been witness to Zac’s impact to the Product Graphic Studio at Whirlpool. Zac brings both a strategic / critical thought process, partnered with the tactical nouse to execute. He constantly looked at the bigger picture of creating and maintaining our various brand graphic assets and guidelines, whilst producing on product content that conformed to those guides, leveraging his core graphic design skills, he was able to drive consistency and best practices for the PGS team, recognized as a subject matter expert within the team and the greater design community at Whirlpool, always available to provide help and a point of view. Zac, also stepped outside his role, to drive and embed process and PLM data management improvements, deep diving the nuances to create the right solution I would easily recommend Zac to any future employer, and would happily talk about Zac and the value he could bring any team.
